Aguas transfers to George Mason for graduate degree

We are pleased to announce that Ariel Aguas will be joining George Mason University in Virginia for his graduate degree. Aguas, a central defender from Ecuador, had been a key player for the Grand Canyon Antelopes during the duration of his undergraduate studies. In 2019, Aguas received an All-Conference honorable mention and in 2021 he was named to the All-Conference first team. In addition to success on the pitch, Aguas was named in the conference’s ”All-Academic” team in 2021.


Aguas was recruited to George Mason, by the new head coach, Rich Costanzo, a former professional footballer. Following his career as a professional footballer, Costanzo worked as an assistant coach at West Point and most recently the University of Pittsburgh. Costanzo was a big factor in establishing Pittsburgh as an elite program. During his time in Pittsburgh, the program finished the season ranked 5th in the nation and made the semi-finals of the national tournament.

With an enrollment of over 35,000 students, George Mason is the biggest public university in the state of Virginia. Academically the university was ranked in the top 150 national universities by U.S. News and World Report in 2022.
