Cos Christou, Cyprus U21NT midfielder, joins West Virginia University

We are pleased to announce that Constantinos 'Cos' Christou will be joining West Virginia University (WVU), a collegiate sports powerhouse. A product of Omonoia Nicosia's youth academy, Christou made his Cyprus U21 NT debut in June 2023. Cos, who scored on his first team debut, made 4 appearances for Omonoia, before moving on loan to MEAP Pera Chorio Nisou in the second division where he was a key player.

WVU competes in NCAA Division 1 and with an athletics department budget of over $90 million, West Virginia is home to some of the best facilities in collegiate sport. The WVU men's soccer program is led by two-time national championship winning head coach Daniel Stratford. In 2021, his first full season in charge of the West Virginia Mountaineers, Stratford led the team to the quarterfinals of the National Championship.

On Cos' signing, Stratford stated ''Cos is a dynamic attacking midfielder with versatility in the positions he can play and will add to an already experienced group of players in our squad. We have incredibly high hopes for the impact Cos might make from day one''

In recent years the school has also invested heavily into its academic facilities, with a $100m, 180,000 square foot, new home for the School of Business and Economics being built in 2022.
