Congratulations to University of Charleston's Giorgos Diakos for his inclusion in the Mountain East conference's, All-Freshman team! The versatile midfielder from Cyprus has been a key player for Charleston with 6 goals and 5 assists in his debut season.
Earlier in the season, Diakos had been named the conference's offensive player of the week, following two goals and an assist in wins over Notre Dame College and Wheeling University.
The University of Charleston's Golden Eagles are arguably the best men's soccer program in NCAA Division 2. The Golden Eagles have made to the national championship final, four times in the last seven years, being crowned national champions in 2017 and 2019.
Diakos becomes the third JSA athlete from Cyprus to earn post-season honours whilst at Charleston, following Ploutarchos Alonefti and Christos Charalambous who won multiple post-season awards as well as being key players in national championship winning squads.
