Former JSA athlete and University of Virginia alumni, Oliver Gerbig scored the winning penalty in a dramatic cup final win for Kitchee SC on Sunday!
Kitchee SC faced Eastern SC in a tightly contested final which finished 1-1 in normal time. With the game going to penalties after extra-time, Gerbig who started the final, stepped up and scored the decisive penalty.
The Hong Kong Senior Challenge Shield is one of football's oldest cup competitions, having been established in 1895.
Earlier in the season, Gerbig made his Asian Champions League debut, starting versus BGPU of Thailand in the round of 16. Gerbig has also been called up to the Hong Kong men's national team and has attracted interest from Chinese Super League sides.
