Miltiadis Hadjipanayiotou, defensive midfielder, a member of Cyprus U19 national team, and captain of APOEL Nicosia U19s will be joining the University of San Diego in Fall 2021.
The San Diego Toreros are coached by Brian Quinn, a former US Men’s National Team player, who previously coached in the MLS. The Toreros have won 3 West Coast Conference Championships in the last decade and have had players drafted to the MLS. Most notably in 2020, Miguel Berry was selected 7th by the Colombus Crew in the MLS Draft and has gone on to score 9 goals in his first 13 starts as a professional player.
The university regularly ranks as one of the Top-10 private universities in California and is noted for its business school which is considered a top 50 business school at undergraduate level.
Miltiadis will be looking to emulate the success of former APOEL Nicosia midfielder and JSA athlete, Andreas Charalambous, who made his mark in the West Coast Conference, receiving several accolades including All First Team Honours in his senior year at the University of the Pacific.
The university’s campus is regularly ranked as one of the Top-5 in the United States.
