Congratulations to former JSA athlete and University of Virginia alumni Oliver Gerbig for his transfer to Henan FC in the Chinese Super League! Gerbig who graduated from the University of Virginia in 2021, spent the last two seasons with Kitchee FC in Hong Kong.
After impressive performances with Hong Kong's national team during the 2023 AFC Asian Cup group stage matches, Gerbig attracted interest from Chinese clubs. On 29 February 2024, Gerbig joined Chinese Super League club Henan for a transfer fee of RMB $1 million (150,000 USD), signing a lucrative three year contract.
