We are pleased to announce that George Pitsillides has committed to the University of West Virginia, a collegiate sports powerhouse. He has received a scholarship that will cover both his undergraduate and graduate studies.
George is a fantastic pedigree of player with impeccable academics to match - WVU Head Coach Daniel Stratford
Two-time national championship winning head coach Daniel Stratford who has recruited two fellow Cypriot and JSA clients in the past, cited his familiarity with the quality of our players as a key reason for his recruitment of George. Stratford stated: “George is a fantastic pedigree of player with impeccable academics to match,” Stratford added. “George’s experience at the national-team level for Cyprus and at the club-youth level for APOEL in the Champions League should certainly help his transition into the college game. My familiarity with players coming from this club and country made George a very attractive prospect from day one. George will add a tenacity and dynamism to our right side, with an ability to get up and down that suits our style of play. George will look to complete his undergraduate in business and his MBA over his four years, with equally loft ambitions for his athletic career to match.”
With an athletics department budget of $93 million, the University of West Virginia is home to some of the best facilities in collegiate sport. The men’s soccer program will be moving to a state of the art athletics performance center in 2021. In addition the school is investing heavily into its academic facilities, with construction plans approved for a $100m, 180,000 square foot, new home for the School of Business and Economics.
