Neophytos Scottis will be making the step up to Division 1 soccer with the University at Albany Men’s Soccer. Scottis who won a conference championship as a freshman with the Wingate University Bulldogs and made the quarterfinals of the NCAA National Championship will be transferring to the SUNY University at Albany in the state capital of New York. UAlbany is ranked in the Top-80 Public Universities in the USA and many of its graduate programs consistently rank in the Top-50 in the country.
Scottis who is comfortable both as a center-back and as a defensive midfielder, rose through the ranks at APOEL Nicosia’s academy where he had the opportunity to train with the first team and feature in first-team friendlies. Scottis will be looking to emulate the success of fellow Cypriot, JSA athletes, and SUNY Albany alumni, Andreas Assiotis who scored the winning goal in the 2017 America East Championship final, and Konstantinos Louvaris who was named in the United Soccer Coaches All-Northeast third team in 2019.
