For the second time this season, JSA athletes George Tasouris and Gurman Sangha have been named WCC Player of the Week, with the Cypriot goalkeeper winning defensive player of the week and the Canadian winger winning offensive player of the week.
Sangha won the award after scoring the game-winning goal in the 66th minute against the San Francisco Dons. Sangha's goal was his third of the year, putting him at 11 points with three goals and five assists. His 11 points are tied for fifth in the WCC.
Tasouris, meanwhile, earned his third clean sheet of the season between the pipes for the Pilots, helping him win the Player of the Week honor for the second time this season. He made a critical save late in the match versus San Francisco that helped keep the clean sheet.
Portland remains unbeaten through 11 games for the first time since 2018 at 8-0-3, ranking ninth in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches poll and fifth in the TopDrawerSoccer Top 25 poll.
This is the second time in two seasons that Sangha and Tasouris have shared the Player of the Week honours in the same week! The two also shared the award in October 2021.
